Born in the lower depths of the swampy south sipping whiskey in the cradle, Lauren Coulson grew into a strong young lady who paints like a beast. She is a native Memphian and received a BFA in the spring of 2009 from the University of Memphis and received a MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University in Boston, MA in 2013. Lauren has exhibited her artwork in various galleries and museums throughout the United States, including the Limner Gallery in NY, Museum of Neon Art in Los Angeles, CA, Jack Robinson Gallery of Photography, the Brooks Museum of Art, David Lusk Gallery, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Coulson’s work was published in Direct Art Magazine Vol. 17 and she will soon be featured in the next issue of Studio Visit Magazine- Volume 22. Her jewelry line is also sold at the Ornamental Metal Museum and the Brooks Museum in Memphis, TN.
Coulson currently draws a significant amount of motivation from the split-leg wiggle. She dreams of being a pirate and a goal of hers in life is to launch one of her paintings into the nut-butter of space and hopes to never get her hands or feet chopped off.
